Covid-19-Careful Kids Karate Camps
This Summer (2022) San Jose Dojo is hosting a few one-week long summer camps for children and youth aged 8 and up.
We are being Covid-19-careful, so everyone must be vaccinated.
Three easy steps to register…
If you have a young person who would like to attend,
- Please print this Registration Form
- Fill out the form with your child (a couple of questions must be answered by your child).
- Either bring payment and the completed form to a regular karate class or take a pic and e-mail to johnny@coffeefire.com and make arrangements for payment.

COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols
-
Attendees with underlying health concerns are encouraged to discuss their participation with their healthcare provider including considerations related to the risk of COVID-19
-
Families are required to provide contact information for parent/guardian and an emergency contact. One of these contacts must be available to arrive at our location upon being contacted in the event a child becomes ill. Please carefully consider this requirement when registering.
-
If an attendee (staff or child) tests positive for COVID-19, they may not return until they have completed isolation per local and federal guidelines. We are currently referencing San Jose Unified School District’s, Santa Clara County’s, State of California’s and the Federal CDC guidelines for recommendations and guidelines.
-
Vaccinations are mandatory. A child must have completed a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination at least two weeks prior to the start of camp. Children who are eligible should receive a booster when appropriate.
-
Face Coverings. We will follow state and local guidelines for masking. Sometimes we may require masks even when masks are only recommended as the facility where we make karate practices is also used by an elderly poplulation who may be more at risk for COVID-19. When masks are required, San Jose Dojo will provide masks free of charge.
-
Monitoring for COVID-19. Please notify us immediately if your child or someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19. Per government guidelines, we will do our best to inform all attendees (staff and children) of the risk for potential exposure, while observing anonymity and privacy should someone report testing positive.
-
If there is a COVID-19 related closure, registered families will receive a prorated refund for the days camp is closed.
-
We understand these protocols may change suddenly. We are doing our best to follow guidance from three areas of authority: (1) local, state, and federal governments, (2) Shotokan Karate of America, which is sometimes more restrictive, (3) Yu-Ai Kai Akiyama Wellness Center. In general we adopt the least common denominator of the three, in other words, the guidelines that ensure the highest level of saftey. Again, these could change quickly when the authorities change quickly, and we try our best to keep pace.
Scholarships
We believe our camp costs are very reasonable when compared to other summer camps in Silicon Valley, but we also want to make our program available to those with financial challenges.
We do not operate to make profit. Our instrutors are all unpaid volunteers dedicated to the promoting the art of karate. If your are able to pay the full amount we thank you for doing so, because more fully paying members help us ensure that we can cover all of our expenses for rent, insurance, etc.
If you are in need of financial assistance, please reach to Johnny Martin, San Jose Dojo’s leader.
